Baldur’s Gate 3 – Avoiding the Saving Bug
A quick step-by-step to dealing with the “game is currently syncing” error!
Introduction
G’day everyone! As of the full release of Baldur’s Gate 3, there is a pretty big bug caused by the cross-saving and cloud-saving systems provided both ingame and by Steam.
Avoiding the Saving Bug
Have you started the game, and noticed that you can’t save? I’m afraid that character’s gone for good, as much as it pains me to say it. Close the game right this instant, and follow the following steps:
- Disable Cloud Saves
To do this, right click on Baldur’s Gate 3 in your Steam Library, and select properties. From there, disable the steam cloud saving option.
- Disable Cross Saves
Truthfully, this setting isn’t especially useful at launch, as it’s mostly present for cross-progression with the PS5 version of the game. In the settings ingame, under the general category, you will find a listing for ‘cross-save’. Disable this.
- Restart Your Game
Now that you’ve done this, restart your game completely. When you boot back in and create a new character, you will then be able to save normally.
